About Me
My Journey into Tech
I fell in love with coding during my high school computer class, where I learned Turing. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
Professional Experience
After earning my degree, I became an ETL developer, working on creating ETL flows, developing queries, and optimizing query performance on MSSQL Server and Oracle.
Early in my career, I was tasked with building an interactive SSRS report that traced data lineage across the company’s reporting environment. It was something I had never done before. The organization needed a way to trace any field on a report back to its original source, including all transformations along the way. To solve this, I broke the problem into smaller pieces and revisited core concepts from my computer science background. I designed a model using a graph structure to hold the metadata and built efficient recursive SQL queries to trace fields in both directions. The final interactive report allowed users to easily see how source fields impacted reports and how report data could be traced back to its origin. This tool became essential for data governance, troubleshooting, impact analysis, and improving trust in the data. The project taught me how to approach complex problems systematically and turn unfamiliar challenges into high-impact solutions.
Current Passions
Now, I am expanding my skills by learning AI development and doing some front-end development work.
When I'm not at my computer, I enjoy spending my time cycling and gardening.
